Hydrating Your Soul

Happy Wednesday! I hope you had a great Taco Tuesday. Last week, we shared the importance of staying physically hydrated and shared different ways to help you stay hydrated. As we make sure we stay hydrated physically, let’s also make sure we stay hydrated emotionally, mentally, and spiritually.

Many of you may be familiar with the proverb, you can’t pour from an empty cup. It’s true. How can you help others if you are emotionally, mentally, and spiritually dehydrated? I’m all for self-care, setting boundaries, and taking time for yourself. It really is needed. However, in the midst of taking care of yourself, you have to make sure you find a way to help someone else. Check out this verse below:

The generous soul will be made rich,

And he who waters will also be watered himself.

Proverbs 11:25 NKJV

The generous will prosper;

those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed.

Proverbs 11:25 NLT

A key to being refreshed is helping to refresh others. Here’s a quick way to help others in the midst of a time when you are rehydrating your soul:

  • A Phone Call

Is there a person who seemingly randomly keeps coming back to your mind? Call them. Ask how they are doing. This doesn’t have to be a long phone call, but you’ll be amazed at the refreshing power a phone call has when you call to check on someone else.

  • Pray For Someone Else

A simple, overlooked, but powerful way to help others is to actually pray for them. I’m not talking about #thoughtsandprayers, I’m talking about actually praying for people. I’m pretty sure there are people in your life that you are not praying for, but you should. You might say, how should I pray for them? Over the next few days, I’ll share ways to pray for people that we often forget to pray for. As you do so, not only will you help them, you’ll be refreshed as well.

Have an amazing day,

Kerrick
