Back To Blogging

A few weeks ago, I was talking to my wife about a blog that I wrote a number of years ago.  After that conversation, I began to think about blogging again on a regular basis.  This year, I have had the wonderful privilege of having two of my books published by Harrison House Publishing.  In addition to those books, I have been writing curriculum for our Faith Bible Institute that we are re-launching in 2023.  In spite of all of this writing, I still had a desire to write even more.  With that desire in my mind and heart, I want to welcome you to my blog.  Thanks for reading!

As I pondered re-starting my blog, I began to think about what I wanted to cover in a weekly blog.  As a Dad that cooks, there are easy recipes that I want to share that have been a hit in my house.  As a person who lost 40lbs in 2021, kept it off and shaved off another 5lbs in 2022, I want to share smoothies and recipes that have helped me on my fitness journey.  As a podcaster, I want to share things I have learned from those I have been privileged to interview on my podcast, Faith in the Morning.  As a Pastor, there are numerous life topics that I want to cover in a way that will help you experience the life that God has for you.  This blog will cover all of those things and more.

As I close my first blog in years, I want to leave with you with a passage of Scripture that I think about regularly.  Ephesians 5:15-17 (NLT) says, “So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do.” The original language of this passage paints the picture of a person buying up deals in a marketplace.  Over the past few days, stores and online retailers have had deals for Black Friday and Cyber Monday.  Often times, people wait until this weekend to buy an item at a reduced price because they see it as a deal.  Let’s face it, people love getting a good deal.  In this passage of Scripture, the Holy Spirit reminds us that we should view life with this mindset.  We should take advantage of every opportunity that God brings our way in the same way a savvy shopper can spot a great deal. Notice how the verse says that we shouldn’t miss out on opportunities during evil or troublesome days and times.  It doesn’t matter what is going on in the world, God will bring opportunities your way.  Opportunities to reach people for Jesus, opportunities to go forward in your calling, opportunities to prosper, opportunities for restoration, opportunities to enter into the future God has for you, as well as many other marvelous opportunities.  One of the best ways to make sure you don’t miss the opportunities God has for you is by keeping your heart sensitive to the leading of His Spirit.  As we go further into the Christmas season and close out 2022, don’t miss the opportunities that God will bring your way.  I plan to make the most out of every opportunity God brings my way, will you?

P.S. I’ll share more about taking advantage of divine opportunities in future blogs.  Make sure you subscribe to the blog so that you don’t miss any of the future blogs.
